Florida National Guard Family Day draws Soldiers and Airmen to Camp Blanding
STARKE, Fla. (June 18, 2012) — Soldiers, Airmen and their families turned out this past weekend for the Florida National Guard’s Family Day at Camp Blanding Joint Training Center, June 15-16.
The two-day event featured live music from seven performers, unit competition events, family activities, and military equipment static displays.
According to the Camp Blanding Military Police Department 533 people attended the weekend event.
“Thanks to all for making our inaugural FLNG Family Day a tremendous success,” Land Component Commander Brig. Gen. Richard Gallant said in an email this morning. “Maj. Chris Bellomo and his team did a great job planning and executing the event and are pleased to report that over 500 Florida Guardsmen, family and friends enjoyed the displays, activities and beautiful weather here on Camp Blanding this weekend.”
Live musical performances included sets from: Steel Rockin’; Crossfire Warriors; Victoria Edwards; Megan and Jenny Starnes; JaElyn Jackson and Clay Boatright; Jessica Thornton; Hannah Ackman; and Tara Tillitson.
The staff at Camp Blanding is preparing for another Family Day next year.
