ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (June 13, 2013) – The 13th Army Band out of Pembroke Pines, Fla., has a surprisingly diverse and important mission. Most think of large ceremonies and official balls when thinking of the band’s mission, but it encompasses more than that.

While the band did perform more than 180 missions around the world with an estimated audience of over 875,000 last year (including television appearances), they have also served during relief efforts, getting much needed supplies to victims following hurricanes and other natural disasters.

The 13th doesn’t just play to Florida’s troops, but also to the communities in which they live and work, instilling the spirit to fight and win in families and Guardsmen alike.

In late May the Florida Army National Guard’s 13th Army Band performed at Century Village in Pembroke Pines, Fla., and Hillsborough College in Davie, Fla.
