Brigadier General James O. Eifert
Assistant Adjutant General – Air and Deputy Commander
Brigadier General James O. Eifert is the Assistant Adjutant General – Air and Deputy Commander, Florida Air National Guard. General Eifert is responsible to the Commander for mission readiness, operations, and administrative coordination of the 2,000 personnel assigned to the 125th Fighter Wing and nine Geographically Separated Units.
General Eifert received his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in June 1982 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. Following undergraduate pilot training, General Eifert served his first operational fighter tour at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina, in the F-4 Phantom. Next, he flew the F-15C at Bitburg Air Base, Germany, as an Instructor Pilot, Mission Commander, and Flight Commander. General Eifert separated from the active duty Air Force in March of 1991 and joined the 154th Wing, Hawaii Air National Guard as Chief of Weapons and Tactics. He was selected to attend the prestigious United States Air Force Fighter Weapons School. After graduating in December 1992, he led the first-ever Air National Guard F-15 combat mission policing the Northern Iraq no-fly zone during Operation Provide Comfort. In 1995, he returned home to Florida joining the 125th Fighter Wing as the first F-15 Chief of Weapons and Tactics. As the Operations Officer from 1997-2002, he executed the Wing’s inaugural F-15 deployment to a combat zone during Operation Northern Watch in 1998 followed by the first Air Expeditionary Force rainbow deployment during Operation Southern Watch in 2000. In 2002, General Eifert was selected for command of the 125th Operations Group until his re-assignment in 2008 as the 125th Fighter Wing Vice Commander. As Wing Commander, General Eifert guided the 1,100 member organization during the continuing Operation Noble Eagle and Overseas Contingency Operations missions while simultaneously serving as the Air Dominance Weapons Systems Council Chairman working F-15/F-22 issues and concerns. On 9 February 2013, General Eifert assumed his current position as Assistant Adjutant General – Air.
